Minutes from the latest PPG meeting

7 August 2024 at 3.00pm at Sheffield Road Surgery

ACTION

A discussion took place regarding the confidentiality at Sheffield Road as a patient had commented that whilst explaining what her appt was for, other patients in the waiting room could hear. HL contacted the patient as she is a NHS England data protection officer and it was suggested we use cards with numbers that relate to a complaint.  HL passed examples round the table.

JE mentioned that the BHF Practices recognise their receptionists as ‘care navigators’ as they are actively triaging.

Since the last meeting, JE had done a waiting room visit at Worsbrough HC and used the friends & family form for comments.  From the feedback we have introduced a ‘walk-in’ session on a Thursday afternoon.  However, to reduce the footfall in the waiting room, we are advising patients to ring between 1.00-2.00pm and they will be given a time slot.

JE attended the Barnsley wide PPG meeting ran by BHF but only 2 practices attended (Huddersfield Rd & The Kakoty Practice).  JE suggested they get in touch with attendees from the Patient Council.

JE handed out a list of events across Barnsley.

JE attended the carers roadshow on 07/06/24 in which there were lots of stalls and a lot of communication between professionals but not many carers attended.

JE spoke about the ‘Health on the High Street’ possibly being launched and using the top floor of the Alhambra Centre for outpatients appts, Social Prescribing and Health & Wellbeing.

JB handed out copies of the GP patient survey results sent out by NHSE.

HL spoke about the contraception and Med3/sick note options set up through AccuRx to save appts.

Telephony data to be submitted by the practice to NHSE from October.  Therefore, it is our intention to encourage patients to use online services.
